March | TWELVE
The word of last week was; brave. So, if you are craving some daily affirmations, follow along and choose to be brave.
I was looking through my old journals and I found this quote saved in one of my diaries from 2012.
“Forgiveness is a virtue of the brave.”
~ Indira Gandhi
It got me thinking about how ridiculous our minds work. Oftentimes when we are hurt, the ego gets mad and creates a story that is not true. It can make us feel very angry and hostile towards other people who we feel have wronged us. We think that forgiving people will make us vulnerable for more suffering and that we will lose power in the relationship if we let go of the hurt.
Most people have armor around their hearts and carry on so much resentment towards people who have hurt them in the past because they don’t want to forgive. Holding on to so much anger, jealousy and judgment is heavy and creates so much distance between people and it is so sad when relationships are ruined because of the unwillingness to forgive.
The reason most people hold on to forgiveness for so long is
Bravery is forgiving people even though they haven’t changed. Bravery is asking for forgiveness and saying you are sorry first. Bravery is believing in the things we can not see. Believing that if we take the first step, we will see the road appearing in front of us. Bravery is reaching out your hands and helping the people around you. Being confident and reaching for your dreams is brave. Taking risks is brave. Being yourself is brave. Telling your truth is brave. Being vulnerable is brave.
Being human every day in this world is brave. To wake up every morning and go out there, meeting people, challenging yourself and forgiving yourself and others is brave. You don’t have to jump out of a building to be brave, the truth is you can be brave in every moment of every day. Being alive is a scary thing and you are doing it right now. Go out there and be vulnerable, trusting and forgiving, because that my friend is true bravery.
