You can say these affirmations out loud or silently to yourself while you are getting ready in the morning, while you are walking or perhaps you prefer to do them before you meditate. It doesn’t matter what time you do them, the trick is to be consistent and commit to the affirmations daily. Are you up for the challenge?

    Best Yoga Mat Review

My intention with this article of the best yoga mat review is to help you find the best yoga mat for your practice. The benefits of having a good yoga mat are many. Whether you are an experienced yogini or a beginner there is no reason why you shouldn´t have the best yoga mat out there.

    Best Yoga Mat Review

    Best Yoga Mat Review

The last couple of years I have been falling in love with yoga. It is such a loving practice that teaches so much about how to live life. Yoga doesn’t stress. It just lets you try again. And again. And you will fall. But the yoga mat will catch you. Having a beautiful mat to practice on can make the ritual feel more fun.

Depending on what kind of yoga you practice there are a couple of things to keep in mind when you are buying a new mat. Are you practicing at home or in a studio? Do you love Hatha Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga or Ashtanga Yoga?

There is no right or wrong yoga. You know what works best for your body. The best yoga practice is the one that keeps you flowing so make it a habit to always return to the practice so that you can live your best life.

Yoga keeps the body humble and the mind in check, the ego can’t be present in the different poses and it is such a beautiful way to honor life. Being alive feels so real after a yoga practice. It is important to remember that the yoga practice doesn’t always have to be so serious and strict. For me, it is a lot about breathing right and feeling the sensations of my body fully. It is about showing respect for the body and honoring the mind-body intelligence. Earth keeps you grounded and the law of nature helps you remember that you need to focus or else you will fall.

Yoga is a balancing act and the best way to listen to your body is to slow down and notice where you are tense and what you can let go of. You can have your head in the clouds but just remember to keep your feet on the ground.

    Best Yoga Mat Review

Yoga is a practice, not a competition.

They say that who you are on your yoga mat is who you are in life. That is so true and it changed my perspective about falling and failing. Sometimes the balance isn’t as strong as you want it to be and other times we can’t stretch as much as we want to but yoga allows you to be yourself. It always has your back.

I have been playing with this idea and trying to change the way I respond to life by just letting my body tell me when it is enough. The same way that I can’t always stretch down my hands to my feet on my yoga mat, I might not be able to reach certain goals in life when I want to. But practicing every day or once a week I know I will one day reach down and make a comfortable stretch so I let it take the time it needs.

The same goes for real life. You have to make it a practice to always return to the things that you struggle with and find a new way to reach out and touch the things you have your eyes on with your hands. Sometimes it is completely fine to ask for help. Just as we use props in yoga class to get closer to earth or use a strap to get deeper into the stretch we can apply this thinking to life. Call a friend to help you out if you are struggling. Use a tool to help you accomplish your goals. It is not cheating, it is being smart. Admitting to yourself that you need help is a beautiful way to practice self-love.

    Roll out your mat!

    For me, one thing I struggle with is, returning to my yoga practice. Sometimes it feels hard to roll out the mat and get started. There are plenty of excuses I can come up with as to why I shouldn´t work on my practice. The most common ones are;

    • I don´t have enough time. (Even though I always do.)
    • I am too tired. (Get moving and the energy will flow.)
    • I have pain in the body. (1 hour of yoga will clear the pain away.)

If you are struggling to find time and motivation to practice yoga I have one tip that will help you get started easier: Get a beautiful yoga mat that you love to roll out and that makes you want to spend all your free time on!

How do I know what mat to choose?

Below I have listed a couple of questions for you to help decide what mat to choose for your practice.

    • Grip – Do you sweat a lot? Do you find yourself slippering in the more intense asanas? How does your mat react to the floor?
    • Thickness – Do you need a mat that supports your knees in tabletop position? Is it good for your body to have a soft mat? Do you need a 2, 4, 6 or 8-mm mat?
    • Weight – Are you carrying your mat around or is it always at home? Do you travel a lot? Do you need a heavy or a lightweight mat?
    • Eco-friendly/Vegan – What kind of material do prefer? Is the material sustainable and environment-friendly? Is it PVC-free? How does the mat smell? (Your nose will touch the mat a lot…)
    • Maintenance – Is it easy to clean? Does it absorb the sweat or can it be wiped easily?
    • Design – Is there a specific color or print you like? Is the design of the mat important to you?

After you have answered these questions I hope you have a better understanding of your own needs and that it helps you to figure out what mat to buy.

    Think abundant thoughts…

We are what we see in the world.

Relationships are mirrors. They show us our own reflections and oftentimes when we find ourselves in a situation where there is resistance in a relationship it could be because we don’t want to accept what we see. If you see somebody who is successful and feel envious it could be because you are denying yourself the success you crave.

We have been thought that only a few people can succeed and that the money out there is not enough for everybody. In a society where everybody is chasing the same things, it is so easy to feel scarcity. We are so afraid that people will try to steal our success that we try to hide it. We become like Gollum and hide our precious things from the world because we are afraid that they will be stolen from us.

I can admit that sometimes it takes me a while to feel happy for other people. I get so fearful that I will never be successful and whenever somebody else gets something I want I start to feel negative. I think bad thoughts and feel left out. Why do I not deserve to feel happy? When is it my turn to get what I want?

It is so easy to forget to be grateful in a world where it is always about making it to the next level. We want to get the fastest car, the biggest house, the best promotion. This silent competition that we have all agreed on participating in our adult life should just stop here and now.

Life should really be about who can learn to be the happiest most loving person, right? You make yourself feel good by deciding what success means to you. It could be as simple as you want or be as difficult as you choose. We are the creators of own lives and every day we can be as happy as we want or as sad as we want.

    Give a gift of love.

Think about the last time you received a gift from someone. Do you remember how it felt? Didn’t it feel good that someone had thought of you and actually took the time to get you a present?

Now think about the last time you got a compliment from another person. Did it make you feel happy? I bet it did and you know what the best part about it was? It was free. It doesn’t cost anything to honor people or praise them with kind words and usually, it means a lot to receive. This is something that brings us closer to each other and is a good way to spread more love.

A good way to get over those feelings of envy in your relationships could be to compliment the other person. It is not always easy but it is the right thing to do. When you have this mentality of showing appreciation for other people you invite good vibes back to yourself.

To acknowledge people is so radically important. It is one of the best ways to feel connected to someone else. It is a simple way to open up for conversation and opens up for new opportunities of information to be shared and linked.

So, remember to always give credit where credit is due.

Lesson: There is enough abundance for all of us.

    “You is kind.

    You is smart.

    You is important.”

    Heads or tails…

Trying to keep your mind free while holding on to a dream is how you achieve the most but it can be a bit tricky. Trusting yourself when moving forward is important because it is very hard to stay true to a thought, dream or belief when we are constantly bombarded with a hundred different things to believe in that can make us change course. There is an ocean full of opportunities out there and getting clear about what we want is the first step to actually living our dream life.

Getting stuck in between two thoughts and having to decide what you want to believe in is hard sometimes. All the decisions that are out there for us to make it hard to follow through with our original plans because there is always something coming up on the horizon that can change the whole game. It could be everything from easy everyday topics to life-changing decisions that make us freeze and rethink what we want.

How do I know what I want?

We all have that instinct that makes us feel either peaceful or a bit weird and which we really can’t put our finger on. It is rooted deep down in our own nature to be able to feel when something is right and when something is wrong. That gut instinct is always trying to speak to us but sometimes it is hard to hear it through all the noise that is going on in our lives.

Flipping a coin over a decision is a great way to get in touch with your inner self. You might have felt that energy that is trying to speak to you when you get the heads instead of the tails. That feeling of excitement when the coin is up in the air and you find yourself wishing for the coin to land on the side you have on your mind. It’s a great way to learn to trust the voice within you. You will get better at it and in time you won’t need that coin because you will learn to listen to your inner emotions.

I would love to hear how you make decisions. Do you trust your gut? Leave a comment in the section below.

    Tick tock…

    Time.

We long, we look back, we mourn it, we enjoy it.
    It’s the little moments.
It moves us, keeps us going.
    We forget, we grow.
It’s all around us but we can never grab it.
    Seize the moment they say.
From a kid to a boy to a man.
    It creates, it destroys.
The only thing keeping us alive, we take it for granted.
It is our friend, our ally, our enemy, our biggest fear.
We think we have control, it’s everything.
We focus, try to learn but it moves us away from the truth.
It’s all we really have but yet we can´t touch it.
From a little girl to a woman to a lady.
From the cradle to the grave.
    Time.

    tick tock

After all the lessons life has taught me I still find myself feeling lost in this world looking for some kind of truth to save me. I found that time is the answer to all my prayers. When I am happy I want it to pass slow, when I am sad I just want it to pass by fast. I feel stuck in it when I am trying to figure out where to go. I feel like it is teasing me when I am all alone. Sometimes I am chasing it and all I want is a bit more time to feel everything and sometimes I need it to vanish into thin air and take me and my thoughts with it.

All I know for sure is that we will never truly know anything until we lose it all. We will never find ourselves if we don’t lose ourselves and we will never appreciate our time here on earth if we never waste it on trying to find a little piece of heaven.

    False optimism…

Every summer growing up I had this idea that I was going to diet myself down to a size zero. My finish line was a skinner, happier me. I started walking in the mornings and eating healthy food every first Monday of the week. It always lasted until around 7 pm when everything broke and I just felt deprived and quite honestly miserable for not being allowed to eat sugar. In my head, I made up all these plans of how I was going to get back on track and finish my diet but I never did. When I gave up this is what I said to myself; I tried that and it didn’t work and I went back to the couch feeling sorry for myself stuffing my mouth with chocolate and crisps.

In my mind, I had made up these pictures of myself being hardcore and running every morning and eating a restricted diet. False optimism and it is when you use positive thinking without actually trusting that you can achieve a goal. I trust my ability to accomplish the goal but lack the trust in myself and that made me fail every time.

I like to think that I hit the pause button and that I can just restart everything when I am ready but motivation can only come when you take action, it doesn’t hit you in the head while you are dreaming. It is about making bold choices, being determined and choosing to get up every time we fail. They say seeing is believing, but the reality is we need to believe it first in our minds in order to be able to see it with our eyes.

    false optimism

I know what I have to do but why is it so hard to do it?

The truth is I feel good when I am eating healthy and exercising. I feel my body vibrate and my cells actually feel alive. So why do I always stop and why do I go back to my old habits?

Fear usually stops me when I am going through a change and I feel like I am going to be missing out on something if I change my lifestyle. That is why it is so important to have the right kind of mindset before you start a new diet. It took me a while to learn this and I still struggle with it a lot, but the bottom line is you have to keep the right attitude.

The mindset of a winner is to never give up. Realistically you should prepare yourself for hard times and know that there will be struggles. Shit will hit the fan. The key to success is to know what to do when that happens. Decide how to react from that in order to move forward. That is the only way to get to the finish line.

Today my focus is on eating good food that gives my body the right kind of nutrients and energy. I exercise to feel good and to get those nice endorphins running through my body. My goal is to have a strong body which in return gives me a healthy mind. I eat a plant-based diet and my exercise routine is a combination of yoga, cardio, and muscle-toning. To my younger self who was so obsessed with the numbers, I would say start with loving yourself and everything will get easier.

Have you tried to diet and did you succeed? I would love to hear your stories about weight-loss, your relationship with food and exercise. How did you overcome difficult times? Leave a comment below if you feel like sharing.

    Face your fears…

Isn’t it scary how memories can paralyze us so much in certain moments? I have been feeling stuck lately and I think it is because I have been thinking too much of the past. I have been worried about the future and feeling a bit scared that it will be just like the past which is exactly what I have been wanting to avoid.

The real scary part is that if we don’t learn to live with peace in our thoughts they can try to destroy us. I believe we all at some point in our lives are going to ask ourselves what we did wrong and how we ended up where we are. Maybe we try to heal through shopping, therapy or food, we want to fill up the empty holes and forget our bad memories. Oftentimes that is the fear who is taking us out of our present to try to do some damage to our lives. Whenever you find yourself trying to escape a feeling remember that it could be the fear that is trying to take control of your mind.

Breaking that cycle of negative thinking and stepping away from the fearful state is how you get back to your own self again. It is a simple step to take but it can feel impossible to do when fear has you paralyzed.

You have to be able to feel the fear, let it be and accept it in order to find peace. Only when you acknowledge the things that scare you will it go away. Feeling the fear in a moment is like ripping off a band-aid and usually, the thought of it is scarier than the actual act. For the fear to go away you have to be able to be honest about what scares you. So that you can face it and move on.

Do you allow yourself to feel what is actually scaring you in your life? Have you been going through something similar lately where you felt stuck? I would love to hear how you face your fears and hopefully how you overcome them. Leave a comment in the section below.
